Safety, Health and Environment

„We operate safely, or we don’t operate.’’

Vopak E.O.S. continuously works towards our goal of zero incidents and no damage to the environment.

Safety is everyone’s responsibility and we expect every employee to contribute to his own safety and that of others.

Vopak E.O.S. applies Vopak’s Fundamentals on Safety, which implies that:

    • All persons will be trained and competent in the work they conduct
    • All persons must know, understand and comply with the basic safety regulations in force at a location
    • Everyone who works at a location should fully comply with the applicable procedures
    • Work will not be conducted without a job safety assessment
    • For work without an approved procedure, permit to work is needed
    • Emergency response plans will be in place before work starts
    • Appropriate and prescribed personal protective equipment is worn all the time
    • It is everyone's responsibility to stop work that is unsafe

Terminal rules - port/ jetty rules

    • Entrance into Terminal is permitted only at the MAIN entrance
    • All visitors must sign in to enter and sign out when leaving
    • Access outside the through roads is exclusively permitted after approval or under guidance. Always follow road signs, regular traffic rules apply
    • The speed limit inside the Terminal/Port area is 30 km/h
    • Parking is permitted only at indicated locations. Parking is prohibited within the yellow lines and near means of safety and fire extinguishing equipment.
    • Naked flames and smoking on the Terminal/Port area is strictly prohibited
    • A working permit issued by the Environmental and Safety Department is required for ALL activities
    • The use and/or carrying with of alcohol, drugs and/or narcotics is prohibited
    • Personal protective equipment (PPE) is obligatory on the premises' operating areas, in the tank field, on the railway infrastructure and within the port loading facilities
    • Mobile phones shall be switched off on the Terminal/Port area. Mobile phones can only be used inside cars and within the office
    • It is not permitted to carry photo, video or other electric appliances onto the premises
    • In the event of an alarm (siren) you should immediately go to the indicated assembly point and follow the instructions issued by the authorized personnel
    • All incidents, accidents and unsafe situations must be reported to the Shift Leader located in the control room
